He’s a Fighter

I saw him failing everyday . I saw him breaking into pieces . I saw him giving up on life. I saw him wanting to end his life. I’ve seen it all but no more. Now He wears an armour of hope .

My father fell victim to a wrong medication which wasn’t meant for his blood group. The medication reacted on his whole body and damaged his eyes too.Doctors said he got a second life.Sadly his new life got him only 60% sight (with the lens) in one eye .Initially, He even had trouble walking around the house on his own. But he came a long way from there.

He started Fighting his fears and his disabilities. For he knew he was not in this battle alone. He gave up on the idea of giving up and then he was no more vulnerable with a soldier by his side -My Mom. It was not easy for her to accept what fate  had brought for her. But she took over the command of the house. She didn’t let Dad feel helpless or weak. Not for a second. Not for a nanosecond. Not for the smallest entity of time that exists. He was a fighter now, All because of her.I can dedicate my whole life and all my afterlives but i will never seek a love so selfless like that.

Now he sits there ..struggling with the TV. His sight too weak to look at the screen. He is switching between channels and finally stops when his ears are embraced by the soothing gurbani. He stops cause it’s food for his soul. He stops Cause it solaced him. And he just sits there listening to it as it untangles his chains and takes him away from his pain. And he just sits there struggling with the TV and Life.Sometimes he  looks at me and i can see how badly he wants to see me changing and growing into a different person. He looks at our pictures and i see how he struggles with it. He looks at them and i feel his urge to be able to see them.Even after all this , I’m more than astonished to see his strong faith in God. How he’s always so grateful to the Almighty. After all what happened to him, I’d almost turned into an atheist (from an agnostic). But his faith changed everything . His faith made me a believer. His turning into a fighter made me believe in the existence of the divine power.Although Life certainly wasn’t the same for any of us. But as they say Everything happens for a reason. So yes there was a reason behind this one too.

The purpose of this post wasn’t to tug at your heartstrings. But to bring up an issue we’re all acquainted with- We often neglect the simple and little things in life, Which in fact are the real treasures of our life. Always be grateful for having what you’ve. And believe me , Having  a normal life is no less than a blessing itself. Wish for nothing more.

It just so happens that I was suggested to read this lovely blog post by my friend and I was curious to why he said so.

Trust me after reading it, I am truly appalled by the love you carry for your dad and wisdom at this young age. With teary eyes jotting this down to you, I should be rambling thousands of ‘Thank you’ for inspiring me. If this post doesn’t inspires someone or make them love their parents insanely, I don’t know what will.

In all honestly, I am not exaggerating or lying, but it just won my heart away. For a twenty years old guy, who lost his father when he was eighteen, this post was so freakin’ relatable at every sole point. I truly believe that father’s are hella underrated in this world. Like you would find billions of write up, quotes, life stories showing how great our Mommies are. Sure, even their love is unmatched. But, very few talk about father’s. Their love is actually more than mums or atleast at par with them, Duh ! The sacrifices they give for us, I bet no one can ever come up with them. The one who was first to hold your tiny little finger, the one who motivates you, puts insane amount of courage in you, walks along you in darkness. I’d run out of stars if I had to match each of ’em with things daddy’s do for us. The only thing is they just fail to show their compassion for us unlike mother’s, but every atom of their heart has only plethora of love for us. There’s a tiny moment between every inhale and exhale, where you are neither alive nor dead, they love us their as well.

I am so sorry to hear about what all happened to you. It was truly heartbreaking and came off as shock to hear that. How can god be so cruel to you ? I hope he recovers soon and is doing well these days 🙂

Be blessed that you have such a wonderful dad who supports you despite being in pains at times. He’s really blessed to have a daughter like you who loves him so so much that every word of her’s is brimming with love and talking about respect she carries with herself is just outta this world. If I had two cents to give, that would be: Live your life as an exclamation, not an explanation. Loosen up. Except for rare life and death matters, nothing is as important as it first seems. Never cut what can be untied. Never overestimate your power to change others. Never underestimate your power to change yourself. Remember that overnight success usually takes about fifteen years. Remember that winners do what losers don’t want to do. Seek opportunity, not security. A boat in harbor is safe, but in time its bottom will rot out. Spend less time worrying who’s right, more time deciding what’s right. Stop blaming others. Take responsibility for every area of your life. Success is getting what you want. Happiness is liking what you get. The importance of winning is not what we get from it, but what we become because of it.

But I believe good things happen every day. I believe good things happen even when bad things happen. And I believe on a happy day like today, we can still feel a little sad. And that’s life, isn’t it?

I’m sure you’re gonna make your parents proud of you by achieving every single thing you two dreamt off. Loads of love to your daddy-daughter relationship, I just couldn’t stop adoring it. And I really pray for his good health. Sometimes we have to fall so that we can soar higher. Oh, let’s do it ‘Roar’ here. xD It was really a splendid read !!

P.S- Sorry for my this much rant, I got carried away !!!

Thankyou for your thoughts and I’m sorry for your loss. Parents are the driving force and the heroes of our lives. We owe it all to them. And This actually made my day. Just like you said There’s something good happening everyday , You just have to go seek it. God give you strength.
      Love and Regards 🙂

Oh ! I’m glad you liked it. It felt awesome that I was able to spread some smiles 🙂

Exactlyyy ! Parents are surely the one without whom sucess is no less than a miserable failure. I see people out there so obsessed with other materialistic things, relationships, trying to seek out; unaware of the fact that real love lies back in home. They’d ask their partners to have food on time and I bet these are the same people who wouldn’t have asked their parents for comfort ever. Not generalising tho, surely awesome people are out there too. I guess, we realise the worth after a loss. And this was surely a hard lesson.

Oh, btw shamelessly stating, as weoras this may sound, I was so impressed by this post that I real whole of your posts. So yeah, I read each of them and I have to say you really write very well and the one’s about tech are hella amazing and so was life experiences. I wonder why Huffington post hasn’t posted this yet.. Wayyy too go, keep writing down. You should write often because you’re amazing with words !!! It’s been loong time since your last post tho. Hahaha.

Hahahah, trust me it isn’t worth a read yet. There was a time when I had 5k+ followers, following my blog on Quora and then things went wrong when Quora moderation accidentally collapsed it. They never revived it and all my verbosity went overhead. So, I had to start from scratch again. And now, I just have 15 followers. Hahaha !! Let me first impove my content and write up some wonderful posts, trust me, I shall be then one requesting you to read my content. 😬

Moreover blogging is a horrible thing to do when you have minors to suck your blood every other month. 😂

      • gurleen9 · March 25, 2017

Wow you need to check your scales. Sometimes you do things because you like doing them. I have very less following too. But i don’t shy away from sharing it with someone ever 🙂

I am sorry if that came off as rude, I didn’t meant to. But seriously, I just have a abstract random post and that too over Dynamic Programming . I’m just shy rn to share it since it has only one post and I haven’t yet written over other genre’s like life experiences, tech etc. as earlier I used to. And the one on DP was gross. 😂 So, I just need some time to get into my zone. Just a thing for month or two, I’ll surely share it’s link. 😀

    • gurleen9 · March 25, 2017

No Don’t be Sorry. Whenever you’re ready 🙂 Good luck.
